But various cells and tissues of the body undergo changes as age advances. So it is necessary to rejuvenate  the  body systems for a better harmony  of  the body,  mind  and  soul.

 Ayurveda is a science which describes various ways to attain and preserve good health apart from cure of diseases.  Ayurveda defines health as  a state of physical, mental and spiritual balance. Ayurveda advises Rasayana therapy in the context of preserving good health and longevity. It is one among Ashtangas (eight branches) of Ayurveda which deals with ways to attain positive health of body and mind, prevents aging and diseases and promote longevity. In other words, it can be stated that Rasayana is a way to achieve homeostasis and thus retarding the process of aging phenomenon and prevention of diseases. In healthy condition, Rasayana, can be understood as nutritional dynamics for rejuvenation of body and mind. Aging in Ayurveda is considered as disease occurring due to the natural process of degeneration and thus, preventing premature aging and making aging in a healthy way is also considered under the aspect of Rasayana. It includes dietary and lifestyle measures along with remedies to rejuvenate bodily tissues. In present era, lifestyle is very much responsible for imbalance of Doshas (vata, pitta, kapha) and Dhatus (body tissues) and decreasing longevity, thus need of Rasayan therapy becomes essential to increase the essence of each Dhatu, balance of Doshas and to promote long life.
